In the first seven seasons, Detective Inspector Jimmy Perez and his team at the Shetland Constabulary tackle mysterious crimes haunting their close knit island community. He is replaced by DI Ruth Calder from the eighth season following his departure. Now leading the Shetland investigatory team, she works with DI Alison “Tosh” McIntosh to solve baffling cases and pursue dangerous culprits.
