The film cleverly uses this premise to explore deeper themes of procrastination and the fear of the future, particularly in the context of the Y2K scare. The cinematography is striking, employing a vibrant colour palette that contrasts with the bleakness of Abbie's situation. On one hand, you've got this quirky premise about a guy who can't leave his couch until he beats a level in Pac-Man, which sounds like a fun ride. But then the film leans heavily into its surrealism and dark humour, which might not be everyone's cup of tea. The pacing felt off to me at times; it dragged a bit when I just wanted some action. The lead performance is commendable, capturing the essence of a man spiralling into madness, but I found myself wishing for more character development. The film explores procrastination and fear of the future, especially with the looming Y2K deadline, but it does so in a way that's more abstract than accessible. If you're into indie films that challenge conventional storytelling, give Relaxer a shot. Just be prepared for a ride that’s as much about the journey as it is about the destination. Show less
