Directed with a steady hand, the film captures the essence of Wyszynski's moral fortitude in the face of oppressive regimes. The performances are commendable, particularly that of the lead actor, who embodies the cardinal's complexity with sincerity and depth. The cinematography beautifully frames the emotional weight of the story, enhancing the viewing experience. While the pacing may occasionally feel deliberate, it ultimately serves to underscore the gravity of the themes at play. ★★★★★3.5/5
Prophet is an intriguing film that dives into a pivotal moment in history, though it occasionally stumbles under the weight of its ambitions. The story of Cardinal Wyszynski is compelling, showcasing his fight against communism, but at times the narrative feels a bit too conventional. The performances are strong, with the lead giving a heartfelt portrayal of Wyszynski, but some supporting characters lack depth. The direction is solid, yet it doesn't quite capture the urgency of the historical context as effectively as it could. Overall, Prophet is a decent watch for those interested in the intersection of faith and politics, though it may not fully satisfy every viewer's expectations.
