★★★★★4/5
Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match is a vibrant addition to the Mortal Kombat franchise, offering a compelling narrative that intertwines the glitz of 1980s Hollywood with the dark, violent underbelly of the film industry. Johnny Cage, voiced with charisma and depth, is on a quest not just for fame but also for truth as he searches for his missing co-star, Jennifer. The film expertly balances action-packed sequences with moments of emotional resonance, showcasing Johnny's struggles and growth. The animation is top-notch, capturing the intensity of the fight scenes while maintaining a stylistic flair that pays homage to the original games. However, the film does not shy away from its mature themes, making it better suited for an older audience. Overall, it's a thrilling ride that provides both nostalgia and a fresh perspective on a beloved character.

★★★★★3/5
Mortal Kombat Legends: Cage Match is a mixed bag that delivers on action but falters in depth. The premise is intriguing: Johnny Cage navigating the treacherous waters of Hollywood while searching for his missing co-star. Yet, the film often feels like a collection of fight scenes strung together with a thin plot. While the animation is impressive and the fight choreography is exciting, the emotional stakes sometimes fall flat. Johnny's character is fun, but his journey lacks the weight it could have had. Fans of the franchise will appreciate the nods to the original games, but casual viewers might find themselves wanting more substance. It's a fun watch for action enthusiasts, but it may not leave a lasting impression.
