Kobieta z... (2024)

Kobieta z... is a remarkable film that delves into the complexities of identity and personal transformation. Directed by Michał Englert, the narrative follows Aniela's journey as she transitions from living as a man to embracing her true self as a woman. The film is set against the backdrop of societal and familial resistance, which adds layers to Aniela's struggle. The performances are nothing short of outstanding, with the lead portraying a raw and vulnerable character who resonates with viewers on many levels. The cinematography complements the emotional depth of the story, using light and shadow to reflect Aniela's internal conflicts. While the pacing may feel slow at times, the film ultimately rewards the audience with a powerful message of self-acceptance and resilience. Kobieta z... is a must-watch for anyone interested in stories of personal courage and transformation.

Kobieta z... attempts to tackle an important subject-the journey of gender identity-but it sometimes feels like it misses the mark. While the premise is intriguing, the execution can be uneven. Aniela's story is filled with potential for emotional depth, yet some scenes drag on, making it hard to stay fully engaged. The performances are commendable, with the lead actor delivering a heartfelt portrayal, but the supporting characters lack development, which detracts from the overall impact. The film's tone fluctuates between hopeful and somber, leaving viewers with mixed feelings. While there are poignant moments that resonate, the film could benefit from a more dynamic narrative structure. Overall, Kobieta z... is a decent watch, especially for those interested in LGBTQ+ narratives, but it may not leave a lasting impression.
