★★★★★3/5

Just for the Summer, directed by David I. Strasser, presents a familiar yet pleasant narrative of love and family. The film follows Penelope Campbell as she returns to her grandmother's summer home, only to find herself caught in a web of matchmaking orchestrated by her and Jason, her childhood sweetheart. The performances are endearing, particularly from the leads, who manage to inject a sense of genuine chemistry into their characters. However, the film's plot is somewhat predictable, adhering closely to romantic comedy tropes without offering much innovation. The cinematography captures the idyllic summer setting beautifully, enhancing the film's overall charm. While it may not stand out in a crowded genre, Just for the Summer provides a light-hearted escape, perfect for a lazy afternoon.
