What is the LIV Golf Tour?
Greg Norman, also known as the Great White Shark from Queensland, had an impressive career as a professional golfer by accumulating 88 tour wins. Yet later in life after retiring from the sport, he felt dissatisfied with the way the game was organized and began to desire a separate competition, often referred to as a "rebel tour."
In 2022 with the help of foreign investment, he was able to make that a reality as LIV Golf was formed and was able to attract top golf talents like Phil Mickelson, Harold Varner III, Dustin Johnson, and two-time US Open champion, Brooks Koepka.
One of the key distinctions between this competition, like PGA Tour Events, and traditional tours is the team aspect. Each member on the roster sits within one of the 13 golf club teams and competes with one another to earn both individual and team accolades.
Another point of differentiation is the scope of this truly international team golf competition. The LIV Golf tour takes place in various locations across the continents of North America, Europe, and Asia.
