We Are Newcastle United offers a compelling exploration of a football club in transition. The film effectively captures the excitement and anxiety surrounding Newcastle United's new ownership and the appointment of Eddie Howe as Head Coach. The narrative flows seamlessly, providing insight into the decisions made both on the pitch and in the boardroom. The performances, especially by the management staff, are engaging and grounded, making the emotional stakes feel authentic. The cinematography captures the atmosphere of St James' Park beautifully, enhancing the viewer's connection to the club. While it may appeal primarily to football enthusiasts, its themes of ambition, hope, and community resonate universally. Overall, it is a well-crafted documentary that shines a light on the complexities of modern football.

★★★★★3.5/5
We Are Newcastle United is a heartfelt dive into the world of football, but it doesn't quite hit all the right notes. The film does a great job of showcasing the buzz surrounding the club's new era, but at times it feels more like a promotional piece than a gritty documentary. The excitement of the fans is palpable, and the stakes are high, but I wished for deeper explorations of the characters involved. Eddie Howe and the new owners are presented as hopeful figures, yet there is a glossing over of the challenges they face. Still, the film's energy is infectious, especially for fans of the club. It's a decent watch, but it might not convert non-football fans into die-hard supporters. A solid effort, but perhaps a bit too polished for its own good.
