In recent times the Farmers Insurance Open has been just another event on the PGA Tour, but that’s all changing here in 2020, and for a very good reason. The Torrey Pines Golf Course in San Diego, California, will play host to one of the all-time greats, Tiger Woods; his first major tournament of the new year, and you won’t miss a key moment when streaming the action live to a mobile device.

Torrey Pines has provided us with great memories in recent years, most famously the 2008 US Open Golf tournament when Tiger Woods beat Rocco Mediate in a thriller. The tournament will see the players on the South course for three rounds while they play the newly renovated North course just once. The North course, which has been historically easier, played really tough last year, with players struggling to make par, largely due to the severe winds given the course is near the Californian coast. The forecast is for high winds again for the 2020 edition so scoring low will be tough. Justin Rose is the defending champion, while Adam Scott finished runner-up and will look to go one better this time out.

Tiger Woods might be rusty but still has to be respected given it is Tiger Woods. Sure he has only been on top just the two times during a PGA Tour event since 2013, that being last season’s Masters at the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. But given his overall record, and the fact he looked sharp in his season closing outings, he has to be considered a serious contender. In terms of Australians, the pick has to be Jason Day, who finished runner up here in 2014 before going one better 12 months later. His overall form in 2018 was a mixed bag, with back troubles plaguing him at crucial times. If he is fit and healthy, you’ll struggle to find a more damaging player on the tour.
