AFLX Footy tournament Live TV Times

It’s AFL T20 style. It’s fast, exciting, thrilling and unique. It’s AFLX and it’s back in 2019 where we will see a completely different and enthralling version of Aussie Rules. This time out four teams filled with the best of the best the AFL has to offer will take part in AFLX, which will be held on February 22, and you won’t miss a minute of the action when watching at home on TV or streaming live online with a Free trial.

AFLX is certainly a different game to the one most will be familiar with and the traditional version of the AFL. The rules go like this: It is played on a rectangular field, roughly 65mx110m. There are fourteen players for each team, eight on the field and six for interchange. There are two players in the defensive 40, four in the middle section and another two in the attacking 40. It is played in two ten-minute halves with two minutes for half time, with no time on, so the clock will keep running if the ball is out. It will be a free kick to the opposition team when the player touches the ball and it goes out of bounds. It’s also a 25m penalty. The points system for scoring sees 10 points if a goal is kicked outside the 40m arc with a 20 second shot clock.

When: Friday 22 February
Where: Marvel Stadium in Melbourne

The 2019 AFLX competition has been changed to make it faster, shorter and more unpredictable. It’ll be played on one night, and instead of 18 teams, it’ll be four teams consisting of the best of the best the AFL premiership season has to offer. The teams are Bolts, Flyers, Rampage and Deadlys. They are respectively captained by Patrick Dangerfield, Nat Fyfe, Jack Riewoldt and Eddie Betts. The Bolts have players that are either quick, or can think fast on their feet with the ball in their hands. The Flyers are all about brutal strength and high marks, and unbelievable agility rates. The Rampage team is all about bone crunching tackles and taking the key marks in order to score, which Riewoldt is one of the best at. The Deadlys are the best in the AFL when it comes to indigenous players, an integral part of the AFL since day one.
