★★★★★3/5
The Resort, directed by Taylor Chien, offers a blend of mystery and relationship drama that attempts to engage the audience with its intriguing premise. Set against the backdrop of Yucatan's unsolved mysteries, the film follows a couple whose anniversary trip quickly spirals into chaos. The performances are solid, particularly from the leads, who portray a couple grappling with trust issues and the strains of their marriage. While the film successfully builds suspense, some of the narrative choices feel predictable and the pacing occasionally falters, leading to a conclusion that, while satisfying, leaves some questions unanswered. Overall, The Resort is an interesting watch for fans of the genre, but it may not leave a lasting impression.

It’s not just about the supernatural elements; it dives deep into the cracks of a relationship that’s on the verge of collapse. The chemistry between the leads is palpable, and their performances draw you in from the start. The atmosphere is thick with tension, and the script does a commendable job of weaving in suspense with emotional depth. While some twists may feel familiar, the film’s ability to keep you guessing keeps the experience fresh. If you’re looking for a film that combines thrills with a poignant exploration of love and trust, The Resort is definitely worth your time.
