In the Devon town of Totnes, Alex Polizzi has been called to help Toni, a 74-year-old musician and music teacher who is desperate to save her home, Appalachian Spring bed and breakfast. The business is stuck in a bygone era and is on the brink of collapse. Unless Alex can help Toni turn her B&B around, she will be forced to sell the home she loves.

Alex Polizzi heads to the Sussex coast and to Bognor Regis to check into The Navigator, a once-proud seafront hotel now fighting for survival. Owner Kathleen is drowning in debt, battling constant leaks and crumbling rooms, and running herself ragged trying to keep up with guests, builders, and family life.
