★★★★★4/5
Graves, directed by Wilfred La Salle, presents a compelling narrative that intertwines the lives of law enforcement and criminals in a city rife with tension. The film follows Police Officer Mark Brody as he battles against the shrewd Michael Laforte and his gang of ex-military men. La Salle's direction manages to create an atmosphere thick with suspense, effectively drawing audiences into the high-stakes world of crime and justice. The performances are commendable, particularly the dynamic between Brody and Laforte, which adds depth to the conflict. The film's pacing is well-structured, maintaining a balance between action sequences and character development. While it may not break new ground in the crime genre, Graves successfully delivers an engaging story that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats, making it a strong contender for fans of action and thriller films.

★★★★★3/5
Graves has its moments, but it often feels like it treads familiar territory in the action-thriller landscape. The story revolves around Officer Mark Brody and his cat-and-mouse chase with the ruthless criminal mastermind, Michael Laforte. While the premise is intriguing, the execution sometimes falls flat, relying heavily on genre tropes that can feel predictable. The performances are decent, but they lack the emotional depth needed to truly engage the audience on a personal level. The action sequences, while intense, can feel over-the-top at times, which detracts from the film's overall impact. Graves is entertaining enough for a casual watch, especially if you're a fan of crime dramas, but it may leave those seeking something fresh feeling a bit underwhelmed.
