The film artfully intertwines the lives of three distinct characters: Horace, the nostalgic elder; Mitch, the troubled teen; and Julia, the idealistic teacher. Each character embodies the struggles of isolation and longing for connection, and their arcs are skilfully developed throughout the narrative. Director Alex McAulay captures the essence of 1980s Americana with a keen eye for detail, making the setting almost a character in itself. The performances are heartfelt, particularly from the leads, who bring depth to their roles. The film’s pacing is deliberate, allowing viewers to fully absorb the emotional weight of each scene. While some may find the slower moments a tad tedious, the payoff is rewarding as the characters find their footing amidst the chaos.
