La-Liga 2025/2026 Season Teams

La-Liga 2025/2026 Season Ladder

Last season’s La Liga battle was once again dominated by the usual powerhouses. Barcelona this time came home with the silverware, while Real Madrid faltered at the last, leaving them, and their fans, disappointed.    However, they’ll be locked and loaded for a comeback. As the 2025/26 La Liga season kicks off, the question remains: who will lead the charge, and who will struggle to find form? The title race is shaping up to be yet another head-spinning two-horse (or three or four-horse?) contest. Watch La Liga matches live in Australia in beIN Sports!

La Liga 2025/26 Updates & Changes

Big La Liga clubs are recognising not everything can go on as it is. Big decisions need to be made. That is, if they want to compete with Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Clubs are willing to make those decisions. This season, it seems several major contenders have been spending big cash on new signings they hope will shake things up on the pitch. There have been plenty of switch-ups off the pitch to keep an eye on, too.

Here are the updates to watch:

  • Real Madrid has been busy picking up top young talent. New signings include Dean Huijsen, Álvaro Carreras, and Franco Mastantuono.
  • Joan Garcia has moved from RCD Espanyol to rival club Barcelona.
  • Celta looks to bolster its attack with Ferran Jutglà from Club Brugge.
  • Xabi Alonso has finally taken up the mantle of head coach at Real Madrid.
  • Real Sociedad has a new head coach, Sergio Francisco. As does Seville, with Matías Almeyda.

You’re probably as keen as we are to see how these changes will change the shape of the tournament this season. But you don’t have to wait around to find out. You can watch La Liga live and on demand at beIN Sports in Australia - and even get a one-week free trial!

Introducing the New Squad Cost Rules

There have been some pretty significant, if a little complicated, changes with regards to salary limits and squad costs in La Liga this season. Essentially, these changes give clubs more flexibility to spend on players.

For clubs over their squad cost limit, this is particularly useful. Clubs over their limit can now register up to three players (one through a transfer, and two as free agents) even if they exceed their cap. Those new signings are also temporarily exempted from full salary cap impact for a one-season grace period of sorts.

There’s also a new “minimum salary spend” initiative to help clubs stay competitive. Primera must spend at least 30% of turnover on wages. For Segunda División it’s 40%.

In short: expect more spending and more signings every season. As fans, we’re hoping this will shake things up and keep every season fresh. Stream La Liga matches on beIN Sports to see just how big an impact these changes will make!
