Newcastle Knights NRL Live Stream and Free to Air Guide

Newcastle Knights

You’d be hardpressed to find a more loyal and patriotic supporter base than that of the Newcastle Knights. The pride of the Hunter, Newcastle play their home games from McDonald Jones Stadium. It’s a stadium that’s been the home for arguably the greatest player of all time, the 8th immortal, Andrew ‘Joey’ Johns. Alongside inspirational hooker Danny Buderus, Johns led the Blue and Red side to two premierships in 1997 and 2001. More recently though, the Newcastle fans have been feeling blue, and their team has been bleeding red on the field.

The club endured its lowest point in the mid to late 2010s with three consecutive wooden spoons in 2015, 2016 and 2017. But, slowly, they’ve emerged from that hole and now, there are promising signs for the Novocastrians under the guidance of Adam O’Brien.

Newcastle Knights 2021 Preview

For the Knights, it’s all about growing a spine. I don’t mean the proverbial backbone – this is a team that has always played with grit and determination. What they often don’t play with though, is the quartet of stars up the middle including superstar fullback Kalyn Ponga and star half Mitchell Pearce.

When the spine is in action, the Knights are a dangerous proposition, but without their key-men, they become somewhat rudderless.

With a finals spot now confirmed, the big task for Newcastle staff is ensuring they can keep their players away from the injury table. Whilst coach Adam O’Brien does have several useful utilities to call on such as Kurt Mann and Connor Watson, the big guns need to come out for us to be watching the Knights beat the Eels.

Newcastle Knights game and broadcast guide

Fortunately, there are several options if you want to watch Newcastle Knights live in Australia, including the Nine Network, Foxtel, Foxtel from Telstra and Kayo Sports. Network Nine is the official NRL free to air broadcaster and will show a select number of Newcastle Knights matches live during the 2021 Premiership season across Channel Nine and 9Now. Nine’s TV coverage is headed by Erin Moran, alongside a commentary team made up of Andrew Johns, Billy Slater and James Bracey. Nine also offers live streaming options during the 2021 NRL season with the 9Now app, but these are limited to the games they broadcast and do not offer full match replays.

For comparison and as shown in the TV schedule below, Foxtel, Foxtel from Telstra, and Kayo Sports will televise all 25 rounds of Newcastle Knights matches during the 2021 Premiership season. That’s every Newcastle Knights game in every scheduled round shown live with no ad-breaks during play, on the dedicated Fox League channel.

As well as these live matches and the option to watch replays at a later time, Foxtel, Foxtel from Telstra and Kayo Sports will also have a wide range of NRL programming that includes NRL Tonight, The Big League Wrap and the Late Show with Matty Johns. There are lots of new faces in the studio this season as every live game will be fronted by Yvonne Sampson, Lara Pitt and Jess Yates, as they step up from smaller league shows. Post-match analysis has also been freshened up and now includes a former NRL giant in the shape of Cooper Cronk.
