The Canberra Raiders, who play their home games at GIO Stadium, have spent much of their 22 seasons since the formation of the NRL as a mid-tier team, but last year they surprised everyone by advancing through to their first Grand Final since 1994.
Last season, they were knocked out in the preliminary finals by eventual Premiers, the Sydney Roosters, after a season in which they finished six points clear atop the ladder at the end of the regular season. Despite coming up just short for the second consecutive season, they will enter 2020 confident in their ability to challenge once again, and you can enjoy all the action at home on your TV, or when streaming the matches live to an eligible mobile device using the options listed below.
Canberra Raiders History and Preview
The Raiders were founded in 1981, joining what was then known as the NSWRFL the following year. A wooden spoon in their first season preceded a relatively slow start to life at the elite level, but in 1987 they made their first ever Grand Final and kick-started a hugely successful period for the club which would see them win three Premiership and make 11 finals series over the course of 12 years. Since the turn of the century things haven’t been quite so easy for the Raiders, but an impressive 2019 season saw them return to the biggest stage for the first time in a quarter of a century. In 2020 they’ll be hoping for more the same, and the team will head into the season as one of the favourites to take out the NRL Premiership.

Fortunately, there are several options for watching the Canberra Raiders live in Australia, including the Nine Network, Foxtel, Foxtel from Telstra and Kayo Sports. Network Nine is the official NRL free to air broadcaster and will show a select number of Raiders’ matches live during the 2020 Premiership season across channel 9 and 9GEM. Nine’s TV coverage is headed by Erin Moran, alongside a commentary team made up of Andrew Johns, Billy Slater and James Bracey. Nine also offers live streaming options during the 2020 NRL season with the 9Now app, but these are limited to the games they broadcast and do not offer full match replays.
For comparison and as shown in the TV schedule below, Foxtel, Foxtel from Telstra, and Kayo Sports will televise all 20 Raiders’ matches during the 2020 Premiership season. That’s every Raiders’ game in every scheduled round shown live with no ad breaks during play, on their dedicated Fox League channel.
As well as these live matches and the option to watch replays at a later time, Foxtel, Foxtel from Telstra and Kayo Sports will also have a wide range of NRL programming that includes NRL Tonight, The Big League Wrap and the Late Show with Matty Johns.
