The Canberra Raiders, who play their home games at GIO Stadium, have spent much of their 23 seasons since the formation of the NRL as a mid-tier team, but have found some decent form recently.
Despite coming up just short for the second consecutive seasons, they will enter the 2021 campaign confident in their ability to challenge once again. Find out how to watch and stream all their games live here.
Canberra Raiders 2021 Preview
Ricky Stuart’s Canberra Raiders are unfortunately becoming known as the ‘nearly men’. A side that has probably punched above their weight for long enough and just lack that extra bit of world-class to kick on and make a lasting impression.
With Grand Final and Finals losses over the past two years, they have always been there or thereabouts. This season there was a huge blip between April and May when they went on a five-game losing run which included disappointing losses to Newcastle and North Queensland. There has been more reasons to be cheerful over the past four rounds with wins against the likes of the Sea Eagles and Parramatta, however.
Going forward there is some great players worth building a squad around. Upfront is where they really pack a punch, with the likes of Josh Papali and Josh Hodgeson likely to get into any other NRL squad. Ryan James is another tasty player when fit.
Canberra Raiders game and broadcast guide
Fortunately, there are several options for watching the Canberra Raiders live in Australia, including the Nine Network, Foxtel, Foxtel from Telstra and Kayo Sports. Network Nine is the official NRL free to air broadcaster and will show a select number of Canberra Raiders matches live during the 2021 Premiership season across channel Nine and 9Now. Nine’s TV coverage is headed by Erin Moran, alongside a commentary team made up of Andrew Johns, Billy Slater and James Bracey. Nine also offers live streaming options during the 2021 NRL season with the 9Now app, but these are limited to the games they broadcast and do not offer full match replays.
For comparison and as shown in the TV schedule below, Foxtel, Foxtel from Telstra, and Kayo Sports will televise all 25 rounds of Canberra Raiders matches during the 2021 Premiership season. That’s every Raiders game in every scheduled round shown live with no ad-breaks during play, on the dedicated Fox League channel.
As well as these live matches and the option to watch replays at a later time, Foxtel, Foxtel from Telstra and Kayo Sports will also have a wide range of NRL programming that includes NRL Tonight, The Big League Wrap and the Late Show with Matty Johns. There are lots of new faces in the studio this season as every live game will be fronted by Yvonne Sampson, Lara Pitt and Jess Yates, as they step up from smaller league shows. Post-match analysis has also been freshened up and now includes a former NRL giant in the shape of Cooper Cronk.
