Despite having claimed just one Big Bash League title in BBL07, the Adelaide Strikers are one of the most successful teams throughout the duration of the BBL. They enjoy head-to-head winning records against five of their seven opposing sides.
If they make it to the Finals again this year, it will be their third appearance in a row making them one of the most consistent teams in the competition. Find out how to watch all of Adelaide Strikers’ BBL games live and on demand here.
What’s in this Guide?
Adelaide Strikers team preview
The Strikers will be aiming for a third consecutive appearance in the finals series in BBL11. Once again, they are well placed to do exactly that. The evergreen Peter Siddle is confirmed in the squad once again this season. Still capable of generating heat above 140 km/h, the veggie-eating veteran will be a focal point of the bowling attack, but he certainly won’t be alone.
Their well-stocked attack includes Wes Agar, England international Danny Briggs, international Daniel Worrall, and the BBL’s fourth-ranked bowler, Afghan spin king, Rashid Khan.
There are also some devastating batting exponents for the Strikers. Travis Head, who has been a pillar of consistency for the entire duration of the BBL as a concept, will once again captain the side. Big-hitting Alex Carey, who enjoyed a rare BBL century last season with an average of 32.69, will also be a dangerous man, alongside the ever-improving Jake Weatherald, who finished BBL10 as the sixth-highest scorer with 443 runs.
This team from South Australia has potential all over the field. The team’s batters are highly skilled and have no trouble scoring runs on any wicket. Even with the turbulent weather conditions in early 2021, it was not too tough for the Strikers to dominate the pitch with their runs and wicket-taking skills.
This time the team line-up seems highly promising. They could definitely win and take the title home if they play their cards right. The Strikers look solid across the park and should make a real fist of it this season.

Adelaide Strikers games to watch
The Strikers have developed several intriguing rivalries. Against any team, the Strikers always put up a tough fight and tried to match scores by making runs. Moreover, win or lose, the Strikers never fail to play every match to the fullest and entertain their fans! Check out some of their biggest games coming up in BBL11
New Years Eve match
This now annual fixture was first introduced in BBL03 back in 2013, and it proved an immediate winner with fans and players alike. That also gets a lot of buzz on social media platforms. It almost provided immediate success for the franchise, who won six NYE matches in a row, with the streak finally coming undone in BBL09. There have been a number of memorable moments in this fixture, including an unbeaten 101 in BBL05.
Sydney Thunder vs Adelaide Strikers
Whilst this one might not immediately register for Thunder, it certainly does for the Strikers. The Thunder are well and truly the bogey team for Adelaide. Thunder is one of only two sides (the other being the Sydney Sixers) that the Strikers don’t have an overall winning record against, with a 6-6 head to head.
Making matters worse is that the Thunder doesn’t have a winning record against any other side. That’s annoying in itself, but the real spice here comes from the context of those fixtures. Of the 6 losses the Strikers have endured against the Thunder, three have been in finals fixtures, and all three have brought about an end to the Adelaide campaign. This match with Thunder is one the Strikers will want to get right this year.
Perth Scorchers vs Adelaide Strikers
This cricket rivalry has its origins rooted in the early years of the BBL. Throughout the first few seasons, these two faced each other more than any other side (17). Hobart is close with 16, but after that, there’s a significant drop. There’s also usually very little separating the two franchises, with the Strikers holding a 9-8 winning advantage of the Western Australia outfit.
Best Adelaide Strikers players
There have been a few changes to personnel alongside some established names in the Adelaide squad for the 2021/22 season. Check out the cricket players we think are going to make a splash in the big bash.
Travis Head is considered a terror in Australia and a top batsman. He is the captain of Adelaide Strikers and has made a name in the world of cricket with the help of his exceptional left-hand batting. His high strike rate of 133.96 has established him as a force to be reckoned with in T20 matches. With him at the head of the team, things are looking up for the Adelaide Strikers.
Wes Agar is a fast bowler from the Strikers and certainly a huge asset. He was introduced to the team in BBL06, where his performance against the Scorchers got him noticed, especially in T20. His economy rate of 8.82 in BBL and his exceptional wicket-taking skills have helped the Strikers win in the past! Can he help them do it again?
Another talented bowler from the Strikers, Siddle’s right-hand bowling has helped him become a modern legend. Due to national commitments to Australia, Siddle was unable to play as much in the BBL after BBL07. However, the loyalty of his fanbase kept him going, and his superb performance in recent championships has made up for his lost time.
Rashid Khan is a leg-spinner from Afghanistan, and his bowling has turned the game around for the Strikers since he joined the league in 2017. He never has any trouble taking wickets from his opponents and is a beast in the field. However, his economic rate shows us how even when he is not dominating the team, he keeps his run rate below 1 run per ball!
