Lambs of God cast

Following the success of Picnic At Hanging Rock, Foxtel has recently announced its next landmark event drama series commission, Lambs of God, which is slated to premiere in 2019 and includes an all-star international cast.

Based on the enthralling Australian novel of the same name by Marele Day, Lambs of God is regarded as a dark and gothic tale about three nuns, a generation a part from each other, living in solitude from the rest of the world in a remote and rugged island on the coast.

Their lives get turned upside down when Father Ignatius, an ambitious young priest, stumbles across the three secluded sisters as he arrives on a mission from the church. This twisted and macabre tale features an all-star international cast led by Emmy Award-winning actress Ann Dowd, from The Handmaids Tale and The Leftovers. Joining her is Australian stage and screen actress Essie Davis (Game of Thrones, Babadook) and UK actress, Jessica Barden (The End of the F****** World, The Lobster). These three actresses complete the Sisters of Agnes, who set out to defend their lives, existence, and beliefs when the handsome young priest, played by Sam Reid (Belle, Anonymous), makes an attempt to sell their dilapidated monastery.

Much like with Picnic At Hanging Rock, Lambs of God has already been generating some buzz given its compelling storyline and prestigious cast. Penny Win, Foxtel’s head of drama, has been quoted saying, “Lambs of God is a lush, evocative drama that is both ancient and incredibly modern, with its timeless message of resilience, and the power of storytelling as its redemptive force.” Audiences can expect this to be another great addition to Foxtel’s growing library of hit original series.

This provocative four-part drama series is a joint production between Foxtel and Lingo Pictures, with Sarah Lambert (A Place to Call Home, Love Child) at the helm as the screenwriter and directed by Jeffrey Walker (Modern Family, Dance Academy). Lambs of God has already commenced production at Fox Studios Australia and will also be distributed internationally by Sky Vision.

While waiting for this new original Foxtel drama series, you can also catch all episodes of Picnic at Hanging Rock, as well as other great programming such as the hit TV show Westworld, currently airing only on Foxtel.
