★★★★★4/5
Twisters, directed by Lee Isaac Chung, is a bold venture into the world of storm chasing, blending a thrilling narrative with the emotional complexities of its characters. The film centres on Kate Carter, played by a compelling lead, who finds herself back in the storm-chasing game alongside the brash Tyler Owens. Their dynamic is a key element that adds depth to the film, reflecting both personal growth and the inherent dangers of their profession. The cinematography is particularly striking, capturing the awe-inspiring and terrifying aspects of nature with impressive visual effects. The pacing is well-structured, balancing moments of tension with character development, although some viewers may find certain plot points predictable. Overall, Twisters offers an engaging experience that resonates with both action aficionados and those seeking a deeper narrative.

★★★★★3/5
Twisters has all the makings of a summer blockbuster, but it doesn’t quite hit the mark. The premise is exciting: former storm chaser Kate Carter and social-media influencer Tyler Owens team up amid unprecedented weather phenomena. However, while the storm sequences are visually stunning, the character development feels somewhat lacking. The chemistry between the leads is there, but the script doesn’t give them enough to work with. I found myself wishing for more depth in their backstories and motivations. The film’s pacing also drags in parts, making it feel longer than necessary. Still, if you’re in the mood for some storm-related thrills and chills, Twisters delivers on the spectacle, even if it falls short on emotional engagement.
