Introducing the New 8-Second Rule
Any Premier League fan knows the old 6-second rule which said that goalkeepers had to pass the ball within 6 seconds was rarely enforced in recent years. The problem? Many say this has led to increasingly blatant time wasting.
But the league wants to change this. That's why they’ve introduced a new "8-second" rule. Goalkeepers can now “hold” the ball for up to 8 seconds. But if they hold it for longer than 8 seconds the opposing team gets an automatic corner kick.
