The Larkins

Pop Larkin manages to sell the crumbling mansion next door, making enough on the deal to start building himself a swimming pool. He and Ma struggle to warm up to their new neighbours, the Jerebohms, after a dinner party.

Pop tries to make peace with the Jerebohms by inviting them to a lavish barbecue; Primrose plans to woo Rev. Candy gets a job offer at a local newspaper; the barbecue ends up a raucous affair, but a trap is set to bring Pop down.
