Check your ticket against the official Saturday Lotto results from The Lott, or from Lotterywest if you bought it in Western Australia. Sign the back of a paper ticket and keep it safe until you have been paid. Smaller prizes can usually be collected from a retailer and larger prizes go through the operator's claim process, which has a time limit, so check the operator's website for the current limits. If you bought your ticket online or in the app, the operator tells you when you have won and how to collect.

Lottery prizes are generally not taxed in Australia, so the prize you win is the prize you keep. Interest you earn on a prize can be taxed, and the rules are different if you live overseas, so check with a tax adviser about your own situation.

The winning numbers are added within minutes of the draw. The dividends (the winners and prize of each division) follow as soon as the operator publishes them, which can take up to about a quarter of an hour.
