On February 9, 1983, when police discover rotting flesh and bones clogging his drain, Dennis Nilsen admits it's not just one or two bodies, but fifteen or sixteen.

Jay and the police talk to Nilsen in an effort to gather evidence to help convict him, but when Des withdraws his cooperation, Jay fears justice will be denied.

Reeling from Des' change in plea, Jay and the police throw themselves into proving premeditation. If they can show the court that Des was of sound mind when he committed his crimes, he will be convicted and never released.
