This flick is all about epic battle scenes. In fact, one of the most famous movie scenes in the past few years is the one in which Gerard Butler shouts “This is Sparta!” before going into battle. Set in the year 480 B.C., the film depicts the Battle of Thermopylae, between Persia, led by King Xerxes (Rodrigo Santoro), and the Greek city of Sparta with King Leonidas (Gerard Butler) at its helm.
As the battle heats up, the courage and sacrifice of the Spartans inspire the entire Greece to unite against the Persians. This great fantasy action movie also stars Lena Headey, Dominic West and Michael Fassbender.
This is another great action movie, this time set in the future. Four high-school graduates, Rico (Casper Van Dien), Carmen (Denise Richards), Dizzy (Dina Meyer) and Carl (Neil Patrick Harris) enrol in the Federation service, a futuristic US Army.
Though their service starts out a little rocky, they soon have to put their friendships to the test when the Earth is attacked by an alien insect species called “Bugs” and the entire team has to work together in order to save the day. And what is better than an epic battle set in space, against evil alien bugs?
This action flick is set in more recent times – in 2005, to be exact. Four Navy SEALs are deployed to Afghanistan in order to kill Ahmad Shah, a dangerous Taliban leader. But as the marines are advancing towards the leader’s compound, they are spotted by a group of goatherds.
Soon Shah’s people find out about the imminent threat and the SEALS are quickly involved in a battle in which they are painfully outnumbered. This movie stars Mark Wahlberg, Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, Ben Foster and Eric Bana.
