As one of Australia’s leading pay television companies, Foxtel has a brilliant score of television series to watch. Because of this, we’ve taken a look at some of the best series coming to the content provider in later this year – here are just five you absolutely cannot miss!
1. Mad Men – season 7, part 2 (Showcase)

2. The Walking Dead – season 5 (FX)
In the fifth season we’ll see the addition of Ross Marquand as Aaron rumoured to become the show’s first gay character and one adapted from the comic book series. Alongside him we’ll see the regulars such as Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), all doing their best to survive in a dangerous world, hoping to build their own impenetrable fortress and live as close to a normal life as is possible in a place where the dead return, eating and turning any living thing they find in their way.

3. True Detective – season 2 (Showcase)
Though details around the second season are being kept tightly underwraps, we do know an entirely different story is to be told, with a whole new cast including Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn, as well as the show’s first female lead Sheriff Ani Bezzirades, portrayed by Rachel McAdams.
With Taylor Kitsch also onboard as a lead following his role in The Normal Heart, as well as Michael Irby, Level Rambin, Abigail Spencer and Kelly Reilly all slated for roles, it’s easy to jump to the conclusion that True Detective’s second season is going to be one of the best shows of the year.

4. Wentworth – season 3 (SoHo)
Providing gritty drama, Wentworth manages to combine the dark worlds of the prison system, violence, drugs and sex without offending – everything is done in the best possible way and despite their crimes, you find yourself getting behind the women who now live their lives behind bars.
Proving that if given the right material, an Australian drama can take the world by storm, Wentworth deserves all of the lashings of praise that have come down on it, and fans cannot wait to see just how Bea’s fellow prisoners will adapt now she’s ‘Top Dog’.

5. Game of Thrones – season 5 (Showcase)
With some incredible acting from Peter Dinklage, Lena Headey and the like, Game of Thrones is a show that will hold you by the throat from the opening second to the closing minute, refusing to let up in its assault against your emotions and everything you’ve ever stood for.
Whilst you find yourself rooting for certain characters, they go on to do things you would usually find deplorable and immediately your inner sense of self and morality is challenged. If there’s ever been a show that defines the cliché of being a “rollercoaster ride”, Game of Thrones is that show.
