Joanna visits the dazzling and colourful Meenakshi Temple in Madurai, one of the oldest cities in South India, and witnesses a Hindu ceremony; in Calcutta, she meets members of India's marginalised transgender community.

The Maharaja of Dungarpur shows Joanna around his lakeside palace before she visits a Dalit community, who are considered to be members of India's lowest caste, in Gujarat.

Joanna travels through Rajasthan, Delhi, and the mountainous North West on the last leg of her Indian adventure, and ends her trip in Kashmir, the place of her birth.
