If you’re one of the millions of people who regularly play online games, you’ll know all too well how important having a stable and reliable broadband connection can be.
We know how frustrating it can be when a bad connection turns your certain victory into a bitter defeat. Congestion or other problems between your computer or console and the game servers can really ruin your gaming experience – so how about a provider who promises uninterrupted gaming?
MyRepublic Gamer Pro Review
MyRepublic was already well known for their commitment to raw speed. But for those who play online games, there’s much more to life than just signing up to a fast NBN plan and hoping for the best. With their Gamer Pro plans, MyRepublic aims to give dedicated gamers a broadband service that’s tuned especially for their needs.

What is MyRepublic Gamer Pro?
If you check out the NBN plans on offer from any other broadband provider, you’ll see that they’re all pretty much the same – you pick an NBN speed (usually the fastest available to you), sign up and get connected – and then you have to take the good with the bad when it comes to your online gaming. Because aside from raw speed, the thing most important to successful online gaming is low latency. Because most broadband providers are focused on delivering internet service to their users that works great for everything from Netflix to Facebook, latency can become a problem with your favourite games – and if it does, there’s little you can do about it.
Super-Fast NBN with MyRepublic
Enjoy unlimited data at super-fast speeds with MyRepublic’s NBN 250/25Mbps plans at $109/mth. Get it with no lock-in contract + $0 setup fees!
What broadband plans are available?
Keeping it simple as always, MyRepublic offers its Gamer Pro plans in two flavours – month-to-month or on a 12-month contract. If you opt for month-to-month you’re not locked in at all, so you can give Gamer Pro a proper road test and leave any time you like. It’ll cost from $99 per month with no lock-in contract for up to NBN 100, but you will need to supply your own modem or router. Alternatively, you can opt for a 12-month contract, which includes the MyRepublic AC1600 Modem for a measly dollar, a saving of $69. So if you’re planning on connecting for the long term, that plan works out both easier and slightly cheaper. As an added bonus for choosing the 12-month contract, you can get a Sennheiser GSP 500 Gaming Headset thrown in for another dollar!

Do You Get a Home Phone?
Yes, with both plans a home phone line is included if you want one – with all local and national calls included completely free, making it a handy thing to have around. You can upgrade to unlimited calls to mobiles or internationally with low-priced calling-pack add-ons.
MyRepublic Gamer Pro features
The key to the success of Gamer Pro is mostly hidden away in the behind-the-scenes cleverness – the idea, of course, is that you don’t need to be an expert on internet routing to get yourself a rock-solid, low-latency connection to your favourite games. MyRepublic implements custom routing behind the scenes, designed to make the path from you to the game server as direct and as fast as possible.
Latency is the length of time (measured in milliseconds) that it takes for the data sent by you to arrive at a remote server – which, as you can imagine, is critical for games. When you move your character through a doorway in Fortnite, see another player and press the fire button, all those commands have to make the trip to the game server first, where they’re acted upon, and the result is sent back to you. It takes a fraction of a second for this to happen – but the aim with online games is to get that fraction to be as tiny as possible. Done right, it feels like everything is happening in real-time.
With some broadband providers, though, the path your connection takes to the game server (known as the “route”) can be long and complicated. MyRepublic’s Gamer Pro plans aim to reduce this problem as much as possible in a couple of ways.
What are the Best Features of MyRepublic Gamer Pro?
Exclusive Gaming Group
To do this, MyRepublic puts its Gamer Pro customers into their own special group which the ISP’s engineers can then target optimisations for. Gaming data gets first priority, and routing is constantly monitored and tweaked to be as good as it can possibly be. To help keep the speed of the connections to your favourite online games rock-solid, live latency tracking is built into the system, automatically optimising your connection every 15 minutes to deliver the best possible performance.
Gamer Pro subscribers can also submit a request for a particular game’s routing to be checked and optimised, so no matter what it is you’re playing, MyRepublic’s engineers can tweak the network to make your experience as fast and responsive as possible.
Static IP address
As well as the optimised network, Gamer Pro comes with a static IP address – allowing you to set up custom port forwarding for your games or to host your own game servers for your friends. There’s also a special Gamer Pro section on Discord where you can access real-time support whenever you need it.
How to Contact MyRepublic
If you’ve got any questions about the Gamer Pro plans and how they can make your online gaming better, give the MyRepublic customer service team a call any time between 8am-10pm weekdays, 8am-8pm Saturdays or 8am-5pm Sundays on 1300 130 888.
MyRepublic Gamer Pro Summary
As the only broadband provider offering custom-tweaked plans for gamers, MyRepublic could be on a winner with Gamer Pro. It certainly looks at crucial pain points for online gamers and aims to do something about them, and that’s hugely welcome. If you can access NBN 100 speeds at your place and you play games online, this is one to definitely put on your shopping list.
