Google Play to the rescue!
Some time ago, Telstra introduced the ability to have your purchases from the Google Play store billed to your mobile account if you’re using an Android smartphone. It’s a super-simple process. Whenever you make a purchase on Google Play on your phone, when you get to the payment stage of the process (where you’d normally select a credit card) you can choose another option – “Enable Telstra Billing”. After following the prompts and accepting the terms and conditions, you can then choose your Telstra bill as a payment method for Google Play from any of your devices. It’s quick, easy, and a great way for postpaid users to keep track of their total phone spending, including app purchases on the one monthly bill.
What does Google Play sell, anyway?
It’s really more a question of what don’t they sell. Google Play, after all, is more than just the Android equivalent of the iOS App Store. Sure, it’s where you go on your Android phone to get all your free and paid phone and tablet apps. But there’s more to Google Play than that.
With Google Play Movies you can rent or buy some of the latest movies as well as the classics. Or purchase entire seasons of TV shows both new and old. And remember, you can watch your purchases or rentals not only on your mobile device, but also on your big-screen TV in crisp HD if you’ve got a Google Chromecast at the ready.
Music fans, meanwhile, can pick and choose from the latest music and buy entire albums or just individual songs. You can also sign up for Google Play Music, which lets you stream thousands of albums for $12 per month.
If books are more your thing, you can pick up the very latest ebooks. Or even buy digital copies of the latest magazines, delivered straight to your device.
Is it worth doing?
If your Telstra mobile is on a postpaid plan, it’s incredibly handy to add Google Play to your Telstra bill. Not only because you’ve only got the one bill to deal with, but also because you don’t need a credit card at all to make purchases on the Play store.
Best of all, it’s easy to setup and hassle-free – you just need an Android phone on the Telstra mobile network and you’re good to go!
