Good news for Telstra Mobile customers. According to a recent report, the giant telco tops the list when it comes to mobile download speeds, besting both Optus and Vodafone.
OpenSignal recently released a report on the state of the country’s mobile networks, which gathered data on the 3G and 4G networks of Telstra, Optus and Vodafone from more than 15 million tests conducted on the handsets of 7900 OpenSignal users. The users operated a mobile app which constantly ran in the background at low power, performing dozens of tests.
And the results? When it came to download speeds, Telstra Mobile came out in front with a 4G download speed average of 23.6 Mbps. Optus offered 19.1 Mbps and Vodafone 18.4 Mbps. However, when it came to 3G speeds, both Vodafone and Optus held their own, and the three telcos ended up being evenly matched. Overall though, Telstra is the clear winner according to the report. It averaged 17.1 Mbps across its 3G and 4G networks compared to Optus’ 12.87 and Vodafone’s 12.79.
Another important thing to note is that Telstra and Vodafone as now even when it comes to 4G availability. Moreover, Telstra came last in terms of latency. Vodafone had the least latency delay on 3G networks and was tied in first position with Optus in terms of 4G performance. If interested visit the Telstra call centre for more details.
