Streaming Wars: Netflix Appears to Be Ahead of Rivals

According to new data, streaming giant Netflix has received more than double the website hits than that of its Australian rivals. Netflix’s website is receiving over 800,000 unique visitors per day.

The new numbers are provided by research company Experian Hitwise and were published in The Australian. According to the data, on the day of its launch into the Australian market, the Netflix site received more than 475,000 visitors. Moreover, it was receiving over 800,000 unique visitors per day by Easter. The other main players, Presto and Stan, both average less than 50,000 site visits per day.

However, it’s important to note that the data only refers to the people who accessed the websites, not those who also subscribed to any of the streaming services. Plus, all three streaming providers are currently offering free trials.

The Australian also reported that 32 percent of Australians are aware of Netflix and a quarter are aware of Stan, which are both impressive numbers for such new services.
