Streaming has become the air that we breathe in, and out. It may not be far off when our telly’s are replaced by digital platforms. The new year has brought with it new hope and a new variety of streaming platforms.
BINGE Streaming for TV and Movies
BINGE has claimed the top spot among the new kids. Launched last May, the platform has already captured the imagination of stream-addicts, and everyone else. With shows like the Game of Thrones, The Office, Chernobyl, Westworld and The Entire Bridget Jones franchise, the popularity of the platform comes as no surprise. The subscription starts at $10 a month.
While BINGE offers more mainstream and popular content, there are other platforms that cater to niche genres and interests. Shudder is one among them.
For fans of horror, suspense, and thrillers, Shudder is the platform for their viewing pleasure. After all, who doesn’t like a good fright? There’s original content too, and all of this for $6.99 a month; the price of nearly two coffees.
For those who can’t get enough of the British Royalty, there’s Acorn TV. The platform offers the very best of content from the UK. This includes shows and movies for a shade under $7.
Streaming is not just about fun and entertainment. There are platforms that offer insightful, thought provoking content too. First up is DocPlay with a very impressive collection of documentaries. iWonder follows in the same footsteps.
There is also good news on the home front. Independent, Australian platforms are making their way to the top. TICKER TV has grabbed most of the spotlight. Their alternative, 24/7 feed across all social media channels may just spark a revolution in news gathering.
And our very own Rob McKnight has thrown his hat in the streaming ring too. His brainchild, Live+, will go online later this year. The platform will offer a heady mix of live broadcasting and celebrity programming.
Since we started with the mainstream BINGE, we circle back to the popular with Paramount+. The Hollywood studio will stream some of the biggest shows and big ticket movies. There is also original content in the form of Picard – the Star Trek spin off. Paramount+ is expected in late 2021.
That’s all folks. At least, for now. Plenty of OPTIONS for entertainment, news, niche programming. And there’s more.
Sports fans don’t need to feel left behind. They can get their fix right here. Exciting options await.
