A whole new advertisement featuring Stan brand ambassador Rebel Wilson has been revealed by the forthcoming streaming service, but no news has been given yet on just when the video-on-demand player is going to launch.
Last week saw a teaser ad and $10-per-month pricing confirmed by the joint Nine Entertainment Co and Fairfax Media service, and it’s looking more likely than ever with this new Wilson-featuring ad that things are going to get off the ground sooner rather than later.
Created by AJF Partnership, Wilson’s seen performing some incredibly strange stunts in a range of outfits – from the ridiculous to the sublime.
An over-the-top video director and team of oddities are also shown in the hilarious two minute clip, in what’s the service’s most exciting update so far.
Wilson was originally unveiled as the face of Stan back in November, when website Mumbrella learned from Streamco boss Mike Sneesby that her recognition would do well to help with promotion, adding that they’d be able to tap into databases of both Fairfax and Nine through their subscribers.
“There will be some advantage also around our databases. I mean Ticktek’s database is enormous as is Fairfax Media’s database. If Netflix could arrive in Australia with access to millions of Australian’s email databases that they could partner with they would be very happy.”
“It is part of (our strategy). It is part of the broader media value that we have got.”
Fresh reports came over the weekend that rival American-based streaming service Netflix is going to launch on March 31 in Australia with a base price of $9.99/month, but that is to be confirmed.
Despite the cent-cheaper prediction, Stan is going to launch with Breaking Bad prequel Better Call Saul as an exclusive show, leading some to believe that the US debut date for that series – February 8 – could also be the day Stan launches.
