Optus Makes Sharing Easier with Data Pooling

Optus Reports Strong Set of Results for the Fourth Quarter

Optus is making sharing easier with a new offer that lets you pool and share your data across all of your eligible mobile broadband and mobile devices. Plus, the company packed in even more data to their mobile broadband plans and it’s launching a new offer to help customers get a new tablet or smartphone to use that extra data.

From now on, eligible Optus customers can share data more easily across their tablets, dongles and mobile phones by creating their very own Data Pool. Previously data-only devices like tablets and dongles could share data from a linked mobile plan. Now, families, small businesses or anyone with a bevy of tablets, phones and dongles can combine any of the latest postpaid mobile broadband or mobile plans onto the one bill and share the data from each plan into one Data Pool.

“We want customers to get the most out of their mobile and tablet plans. Sharing from one data pool means you only have one bill and keeping track of data usage is so much simpler. Now, if mum doesn’t use all the data from her mobile phone plan, she doesn’t need to hand over her phone when the kids have already finished the data in their tablet, it’s already in the pool ready to share on their own devices,” Ben White, Vice President, Mobile Marketing, Optus, said.

Here’s a list of Optus plans that allows you to share data:

For regular users:

Mobile Plans:

  • My Plan Plus –24 month contract plan with new phone
  • My Plan Plus SIM-Only – SIM Only plan for BYO phone

Mobile Broadband Plans:

  • My Mobile Broadband Plus

For small and medium business customers:

Mobile Plans:

  • My Plan Business –24 month contract plan with new phone
  • My Plan Business Tech Fund – 24 month contract plan with Tech Fund
  • My Plan Business SIM – SIM Only plan for BYO phone

Mobile Broadband Plans:

The company also issued an incentive to adding iPhones and iPads to the Data Pool. Existing account holders with an active 12 or 24 month mobile or mobile broadband plan can add a new iPhone or iPad on a 24 month plan to their account and receive a $150 one off credit. You can add up to five additional iPhones or iPads on plans to receive a credit of up to $750.

Moreover, Optus packed even more data to their $60 My Mobile Broadband Plus plan. Customers now get a massive 12GB of data to use on their favourite mobile broadband device each month on a 12 or 24 month contract, or choose a month-to-month plan.
For those customers who just want a little extra data to share with their other devices on a lighter plan, Optus has introduced a new $10 My Mobile Broadband Plus plan. For just $10 a month on a month-to-month plan, customers get 1.5GB of data to use on their favourite tablet or dongle.

The offer runs from 3 August until 5 October and is open to both consumers and small businesses.
