The transition to the NBN has been exciting. But, unfortunately, the speedy internet isn’t available all across Australia just yet. If you’re in an area where the NBN isn’t likely to come soon, then an ADSL plan is still your best pick. And MATE has some great offers currently available.
The MATE ADSL2 Standalone Internet plans include unlimited data and start from just $49 per month. That means you don’t have to worry about downloading too much, playing online too much, or streaming too many shows. You can never run out of data and you won’t have to pay any excess fees either. Excellent news for those who spend a lot of time online.
There are two MATE ADSL plans available, depending on your location. The City Mates plan costs $49/month, while the Country Mates plan is $59/month. The good news? MATE will transition you to the NBN for free when it becomes available. Additionally, these plans come with no contracts or setup fees. You can even bring your own modem, as long as it’s compatible with the Telstra Network. If that’s not the case, you can purchase one from MATE for $149 or $169.
Also, it’s important to note that this is not a Naked ADSL service. Both ADLS plans from MATE require you to be paying line rental with a Telstra provider. As for speed, ADSL can provide download speeds up to a maximum of 20Mbps to eligible customers in selected areas with upgraded exchanges and up to 8Mbps in many other areas; but average speeds will be lower. Actual speeds you will receive will vary due to a number of factors such as your distance from an exchange, the network connecting the exchange, your equipment and software and internet traffic.
