World Series 2018 Preview
The 2018 World Series will be the 114th edition of the tournament of the MLB. It is a best of seven match series between the winner of the National League, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the American League Champion, which is the Boston Red Sox. This will be the first time these two sides have played in a World Series since 1916, when Babe Ruth pitched for the Sox and the Dodgers were still in Brooklyn. Whoever wins, it will certainly be historic, and there’s an added benefit to watching the World Series in Australia, as the games will air at a much friendlier time than they do for fans on the US East Coast.
The Dodgers will be looking to secure their first World Series title since 1988 when they beat the Oakland Athletics 4-1. They were the best senior circuit side of the regular season, producing some freak numbers, including 23 straight scoreless innings’, a post season record for the MLB. Their ability to create runs has been unbelievable, scoring nearly three times more than their opposition throughout the playoffs. The Dodgers are also the first team since the Rockies (2007) to make it to the World Series when winning a regular season tie-breaker, and will now look to make even more history.
For the Red Sox, they dominated the American League during the regular season, registering a team-record 108 wins. Their World Series ambitions took a hit in the first game of each of their playoff matches, losing both times, but were unstoppable afterwards sweeping aside both the Yankees and last year’s champs, the Houston Astros. Boston combines a strong top of the order rotation led by Chris Sale, with a fearless line-up that can get productions from top to bottom. For proof look no further than Jackie Bradley Jr, the ALCS Most Valuable Player, who is the number nine hitter in their potent batting order.
