T20 World Cup 2016 Streamed Live and Aired Free: Cricket Fans Rejoice

In an agreement that came just days before the opener, Fox Sports have teamed with Channel Nine to offer Australian Cricket fans an opportunity to watch the 2016 ICC T20 World Cup live.

Under this historic arrangement Fox Sports will broadcast every T20 World Cup game Live, in HD, and with no ad-breaks during play. For a total of 35 exciting contests. Channel Nine will televise every Australian match, plus the Finals for a total of seven T20 World Cup Free to Air matches.

Additionally, Foxtel will be offering the T20 World Cup Live across multiple platforms, including a standard or HD TV, eligible mobile devices through their Foxtel Go app, as well as Online* with compatible Mac, PC, Xbox, Playstation and more using Foxtel Play.

2016 T20 World Cup

This will be the sixth edition of the ICC T20 tournament, and first ever hosted by India. The event is held every two years, and staged over two rounds, with the first round going from March 8 until March 13. The two teams that emerge from round one will progress into the second round, where eight already qualified nations including host India will be waiting. India, aided by home ground advantage, will be looking to go one better than the last time out, when they were defeated by Sri Lanka in the 2014 Final.

The other seven pre-qualified contenders include England, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, West Indies and Australia. The Australian side, buoyed by their Cricket World Cup success, will be looking to capture their first-ever T20 World Cup trophy. Australia’s best showing was finishing runner-up to England (2010), and will play their first match against arch rivals New Zealand on Friday, March 18.

Fox Sports and Channel Nine (Free to Air)

Australian cricketing great Allan Border, along with former Australian bowler, Brendon Julian, will provide viewers the highest level of commentary and analysis throughout the competition. According to Fox Sports CEO Patrick Delaney- “Today’s announcement will ensure Australians get to watch every game of this month’s much anticipated ICC World Twenty20 live, ad break free and in high definition. There will be four Group matches of the 2016 T20 Cricket World Cup on Free to Air TV channel Nine, while Fox Sports will broadcast all 35 games Live, in HD, and ad-break free siren to siren, as well as providing T20 World Cup match Replays for those who may have missed out.
