The best cricketers from across the world will all assemble to England for the 2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup, with bragging rights on the world stage up for grabs.
The 2017 edition will be the 11th staging of the tournament, with Australia going in as the heavy favourites having won the last World Cup as well as five previous titles, and you won’t miss a minute of the best games on the schedule when watching on a standard or HD TV, or streaming the matches Live with a Free trial.
2017 Women’s Cricket World Cup Preview
Talks began in 1971 to stage a Cricket World Cup for female teams, led by the legendary Jack Hayward. During that time, it was agreed that the tournament will be staged in 1973, two years before the men’s edition. England beat Australia in the inaugural ICC Women’s World Cup Final, but since then Australia have dominated, appearing in seven of the next nine and winning six of them.
One of the key sides to watch is New Zealand. Aside from Australia and England, New Zealand are the only other nation to have won the World Cup. The White Ferns were one of the real improving sides of 2016, led by captain Suzie Bates, who was named the ICC ODI Player of The Year last year. Sophie Devine is also back for the team and you’d struggle to find a player finding the boundary as easily as her. But the team to beat has to be the Southern Stars, who are yet to taste defeat in an ODI Series since mid-2013.
