Foxtel is bound to make local TV history as they drop episodes of their new original series, Picnic At Hanging Rock, all at once — making them the first ever local service provider to do so for a locally produced show. This allows viewers to binge watch the new series when it drops on May 6.
There’s been a huge buzz surrounding Foxtel’s new original series, Picnic At Hanging Rock, and having them drop all six episodes from the new season just makes the wait for this hotly anticipated series so worth it.
From May 6, viewers would be able to stream the entire new season on Foxtel Now and On Demand. This makes Foxtel the first ever service provider to drop all episodes in one go for a locally produced TV series. True enough, this was done in response to the “incredible buzz” directed towards the show when production was announced over a year ago.
Brian Walsh, Foxtel’s director of television, stated that, “This is the first time that we will drop all episodes at once for a Foxtel original series. We think it’s a great message. We are putting customers first and giving them the choice to watch it either weekly on a Sunday night or all at once and any time it suits them. It really is gifting the scheduling to the viewer and letting them decide what suits. This is the way the world is watching drama.”
Picnic At Hanging Rock is a reimagining of Joan Lindsay’s iconic novel of the same name. It stars highly acclaimed British actress, Natalie Dormer, alongside Australian actresses on the rise including Samara Weaving, Lily Sullivan, Ruby Rees, and Madeleine Madden. This series is also a joint production between Foxtel and FremantleMedia Australia and has so far garnered raving reviews from The Hollywood Reporter, having quoted saying, “this new version, by contrast, is a simmering nightmare drenched in lush colour, energetically shot with a propensity for psychologically unsettling Dutch angles, and powered by a surging contemporary score.”
Catch all episodes of Picnic at Hanging Rock, and other great programming such as the hit TV show Westworld, when it airs on May 6, 8:30pm, only on Foxtel. Still don’t have a Foxtel subscription?
