Foxtel ropes in Seven Productions for hot drama series

Foxtel and Seven Productions sign deal for “A Place to Call Home”

In a landmark agreement, Foxtel recently signed a deal with Seven Productions to produce “A Place to Call Home”, exclusively for Foxtel.  The show is one of Australia’s most watched drama series, with an average of 2.2 million national viewers for the first two seasons. The new deal covers season 3 and 4, which will premiere on Foxtel’s SoHo drama channel in 2015.

This move is clearly meant to delight fans of the show who have been eagerly waiting for the next season. Foxtel has always been one of Australia’s most progressive and dynamic media companies in terms of content. This deal bolsters their positioning on drama. Penny Win, Foxtel’s Head of Drama stated in a recent press release that this continues Foxtel’s strong commitment to Australian storytelling and locally produced drama.

Seven Productions has held a leading position in Australian programming. This move helps them expand their production beyond the Seven Network. Seven’s original programs are presently sold to over 130 global markets, and they recently created two new international ventures, 7Wonder and 7Beyond for the UK and US markets respectively. Some of their other popular productions include Home and Away, My Kitchen Rules, and Border Security.

“A Place to Call Home” is a romantic period drama, following the lives of a wealthy, complicated pastoral family, set in the 1950’s. The cast includes Marta Dusseldorp, Noni Hazlehurst, Brett Climo and Craig Hall. The series has been acclaimed by critics as ‘captivating’ and ‘a class act’.

This is definitely good news, not just for the cast and crew, but also the millions of fans eagerly awaiting the show. Also make sure you compare Foxtel Packages and evaluate which offering is best for you.
