Just in tune with the EB Games Expo concluded last week at the Sydney Olympic Park, Foxtel recently announced it plans to bring Foxtel Play to the Xbox One. This is bound to be great news for Xbox Owners allowing them to access the wide range of entertainment that Foxtel Play brings, all with the easy access of native, cutting edge entertainment features of the Xbox One.
Foxtel and Xbox have a shared legacy as pioneers in Australian entertainment services. Foxtel already offers premium entertainment services on Xbox 360 through it’s Foxtel Play offering. Till date, Xbox 360 owners have streamed more than 20 million hours of prime entertainment via Foxtel Play. Foxtel and Xbox aim to recreate that magic for Xbox One owners as well.
The service is expected to go live in a few months. Once it does, Xbox One owners will be able to download the Foxtel Play app, for free, from Xbox MarketPlace with their registered Xbox Live account.
Foxtel’s Executive Director of Sales and Marketing, Ed Smith, said, “Foxtel and Xbox are synonymous with brilliant entertainment. Our shared history of filling living rooms with funny, adventurous, nail-biting and immersive experiences is what we live for and our partnership to bring Foxtel Play to Xbox 360 has been an unmeasured success for our customers. We’re thrilled to announce plans to add Foxtel Play to Xbox One and take that success even further.”
Microsoft Australia Xbox lead, Jeremy Hinton, said, “With Xbox One, our aim is to deliver an all-in-one solution that couples industry leading games with best-in class film and TV entertainment experiences. This latest milestone in our already game-changing relationship puts the latest and greatest movies and TV shows into the hands of our fans, and adds to the ever growing line-up of Australian and international content available to all Xbox One owners.”
Foxtel Play is Foxtel’s mobile offering and enables customers to enjoy premium entertainment by streaming it to their broadband enabled devices such as smart TVs, console devices and on their mobile devices as well. Currently compatible devices include Xbox 360, eligible LG and Samsung Smart TVs, selected Samsung BluRay and home theatre systems, PS3/ PS4 and PC and Mac computers.
With no lock in period and no installation costs, Foxtel Play aims to provide a great value proposition for customers as well. New customers can get access to content within minutes of signing up, once they install the free app. Subscriptions are monthly, meaning subscriber can pay as they go. Definitely a good deal for Xbox One owners!
