Foxtel Play becomes Foxtel Now and brings subscribers HD streaming

Foxtel revamps its streaming service yet again. Formerly known as Foxtel Play, Foxtel Now brings subscribers HD streaming, Chromecast and browser support, as well as a two week free trial to experience the fresh product firsthand.

Foxtel is relaunching its streaming service. Foxtel Now is a new and improved version of Foxtel Play, but it still offers a low cost and accessible way to subscribe to Foxtel via the internet. The service is available starting June 7.

Introducing Foxtel NOW

Wondering about new features? Foxtel Now arrives with the widely anticipated addition of HD streaming on select devices. The service also offers a brand new user interface, as well as the ability to stream Foxtel Now to the big screen via Google Chromecast. Plus, there’s no longer the need to download an app to your PC/Mac. You can stream Foxtel Now content in your Google Chrome browser.

Just like Foxtel Play, Foxtel Now features five entry level packs to match viewers’ interests. The Drama and Pop packs are $15 per month each, or you can get them both for $25. They both feature the showcase channel, which airs HBO’s award-winning Game of Thrones. That means fans of the series can enjoy the upcoming season 7 in HD for only $15 per month. Lifestyle, Docos and Kids packs are available at $10 per month each.

As for devices you can use to stream Foxtel content on the internet, Foxtel Now will be available on PC/Mac via the Google Chrome browser, Telstra TV, iOS and Android mobiles and tablets, and Chromecast. Additional devices will be updated in the coming months. Until then, other devices, including PlayStation 3 & 4, Xbox One and select Smart TVs are able to stream Foxtel content live in SD via the Foxtel Play app.

Subscribers will have access to all linear services in the tier along with all of the on-demand, catch up and library content available to that tier plus mobile and tablet access via the new Foxtel Now app. At launch you will be able to access over 16,000 titles in the on demand library. Half of the titles will be in HD. More HD content will be added in the future.

Foxtel Now comes with a two-week free trial. The offer is available for everyone – even if you used your Foxtel Play trial in the past, you still have the chance to experience the new product.
