Australians have had a keen interest in NCAA Basketball in recent years, thanks largely to the deeds of Andrew Bogut, who excelled during his collegiate career in the States and became the first player chosen in the NBA Draft.
In 2016 Australians are cheering on Ben Simmons, who is playing for the LSU Tigers and considered among the best players in the college ranks and a potential first overall pick in next year’s NBA draft, and you can enjoy his skills on a standard or HD TV, watch full replays at a later time, or stream games live to an eligible mobile or internet connected device with a Free trial.
LSU Tigers 2016 NCAA Basketball Preview
The hype surrounding the LSU Tigers this season has been huge, with arguably the number one recruit in American, Ben Simmons, coming to Louisiana. The anticipation was so big that tickets for their home games went on sale soon after it was announced that Simmons was coming in May, and sold in record time. Simmons, along with Brandon Sampson and Antonio Blakeney, have provided the University with a level of buzz that hasn’t been seen since the mid 1990’s. At that time current coach Johnny Jones was an assistant, and NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal was dominating the college ranks.
The Tigers kicked off their NCAA basketball season against McNeese State and got the job done 81-70, with Blakeney showing why he will be a star in the NBA with 22 points and 10 rebounds. The 208cm (6 foot 10) Simmons was also a major factor in the victory, recording a double-double (11 points, 13 rebounds) to become only the third player in history to achieve the feat in their first-ever NCAA college basketball game, joining Anthony Davis and Kevin Love. It’s no wonder why Simmons is being compared to LeBron James.

Ben Simmons: LSU Tigers
The Ben Simmons story is a beauty. Born in Melbourne and played high school Basketball for Box Hill before he went to the US in 2013 to chase his dream. He signed a letter of intent to play College Basketball for Louisiana in late 2014 and soon after was named in the All American Game where he won the Morgan Wooten award as the best player. His senior year was with Florida and he had an unbelievable season. In 29 regular season games, he averaged 28 points, 12 rebounds, 4 assists and a tick under 3 steals and will now look to continue his ascent at the next level.
Take full advantage because this may be Simmons’ only season in the NCAA, as he’s widely expected to compete for the #1 overall pick in next year’s NBA draft, so while viewing options do exist don’t look for Ben Simmons and LSU Tigers Basketball on Free to Air in Australia.
