The 2016 Rugby Sevens Series wraps up this weekend at London, where Fiji currently hold a narrow lead over South Africa and New Zealand.
But the big talking point of the tournament is former NRL superstar and San Francisco 49er Jarryd Hayne, who will join the Fiji squad as they advance to Rio for the Olympics and you won’t miss a minute of the action when watching live on a standard or HD TV, or mobile streaming with a Free trial.
2016 London Sevens Preview
The Rugby Sevens will make its debut in the 2016 Olympics this August at Rio, and the Aussie Thunderbolts have already qualified by winning the 2015 Oceania Sevens Championship. But that doesn’t mean the work is done, as Australia will look to improve their play during the remainder of the World Rugby Sevens, in advance of a historic visit to Brazil.
When: May 21-22
Where: Twickenham, London
The 10th and final leg of the Series will take place in London at the iconic Twickenham Stadium. The leg was first played in 2001. New Zealand have won on five occasions, with host nations England next best at three. The last leg was at Paris with Samoa recording a famous 29-26 win over Fiji, with Samoa winning their first tournament since 2012.
Australia have drawn the tough Pool B in the London leg, sitting alongside Fiji, England and Wales. With the anticipation of Jarryd Hayne making an instant impact, Fiji are expected to progress, so that leaves England and Australia fighting out for the second spot. The result probably won’t matter given all eyes and energy will be focused on Rio, but the Aussies are always competitive.
