The Australian Baseball League season kicks off very soon, but before that happens, the best of the best from Australia as well as some high class players from across the world will venture to Melbourne Ballpark for the 2016 ABL All Stars Game between the World All Stars and Team Australia.
The game has been in place since 2011 and the score is all square at 2-2 between the sides, and with the growth of Baseball down under, this is a must watch game during the holidays, and you can enjoy the event on a standard or HD TV, or stream it live to an eligible mobile or internet connected device with a Free trial.
2016 ABL All Stars Preview
In the second season of the Australian Baseball League (ABL), it was announced by the governing body that there would be an All Star game to take place between a World All Stars side and a side filled with Australia. As stated earlier, the score is 2-2 since the concept first started, but this edition is the most important given the Australian side is using this as an important lead up towards the World Baseball Classic at Tokyo in March so the Aussies will want to put a good show on.
The World All Stars side, on paper, looks very strong and is highlighted by Melbourne Aces recruit Jeremy Guthrie, who is the highest profile player in the ABL. Guthrie started twice for Kansas City during Baseball’s World Series. He will be joined in the side by another former MLB star Mark Hamburger, who has been one of the more dominant players in the ABL in recent years. Josh Guyer will be the key player for the Australian team. He is back down under after representing Australia in the U/23 World Cup, where he starred and claimed a silver medal. He has been striking the ball so impressively and a good performance will almost ensure him a spot on the plane to Tokyo, but you won’t find him or any of your other favourite All Stars on Free to Air.
