The NBN not in your area yet? We know how frustrating that may be. While you can always check when the service will be available, you still need a way to get online in the meantime. And an ADSL connection is your safest pick. It’s fast, it’s painless, and it’s often very affordable. Like in the case of Barefoot Telecom.
Barefoot Telecom is a 100% Australian owned and operated telco with a knack for customer service. They offer several ways to get in touch and pride themselves on providing personalised service from a locally based support team. Moreover, the company won’t make you sign a lengthy contract – you only pay on a month-to-month basis.
While the telco does offer some great plans providing your City has the NBN, it’s their ADSL offerings that caught our eye. Depending on your location, there are two available: Metro and Regional. If you choose a standalone plan, they do require an active phone line on the Telstra network with an alternate provider. However, there are no contracts, setup fees, or plan change fees to fuss over, and you can use your own modem. Both plans come with unlimited data, so you can stream and download as much as your heart wishes. The Metro plan costs $49/month and the Regional plan $59/month.
Alternatively, you can also go for their ADSL bundles. In this case, besides unlimited data, you also get unlimited local and national calls. The Metro bundle comes at $69/month and the Regional bundle at $99/month. Calls to mobile are priced at 40c per min and calls to 13/1300 numbers at 50c per call. Freebies are the same as for the standalone plans – no contracts or extra fees. If you don’t have a modem, you can purchase one for an extra fee.
