The Block Grabs Overnight TV Ratings — 4 Sept 2019

A look at the latest ratings results and what they mean for the networks – as well as a glimpse at how well your favourite shows are doing!

The Block Claims Overnight TV Ratings for Nine

It’s been a great 15th season run so far for The Block, with the Nine show consistently topping the charts on free to air overnight ratings. It’s really no surprise that it’s recognised as Australia’s most successful reality program! This new season sees five ambitious couples renovating the neglected Oslo Hotel in St Kilda for the chance to walk away with the $100,000 prize money — not to mention the profit made once the apartments go under the hammer at a public auction this year.

From hitting a million mark with last week’s viewership to dropping to 975,000 last Sunday and 906,000 last Monday, Tuesday night’s airing of a new episode of The Block only earned 847,000. This may not be as impressive as previous evenings’ numbers, but it’s still more than enough to give the reality show the lead amidst its toughest competition including Network Ten’s Australian Survivor. Despite the slight decrease in this week’s viewership, The Block is still well positioned for another great run with high ratings that are placing them ahead of the ratings competition. Suffice it to say, this spells out another big win for Nine, especially following the success of The Voice Australia and Australian Ninja Warrior, which have previously aired and wrapped up new seasons this year.

Tuesday Evening Set for News and Sport Commentaries

It seems like Tuesday evenings are reserved for a whole lot of news and sports commentaries across Foxtel channels including Fox Footy, Fox League, Fox Sports, and Sky News Live. The Back Page on FOX Sports took home the lead with 63,000 viewership, which was tied with AFL 360 on FOX Footy and Sky News Live’s The Bolt Report. Of course, it’s not all news with reruns of fan-favourite shows such as Family GuyThe SimpsonsBlue Bloods, and a couple of hit kids shows such as Ryan’s Mystery Playdate and Paw Patrol.
