Amaysim to Focus on Mobile and Energy, Sells Internet Business to Southern Phone

Amaysim has stopped selling home broadband to customers to simplify their offerings, now comprising exclusively of mobile and energy. Mobile and internet provider Southern Phone has taken over the broadband customer base after a $3 million-deal was finalised last October.

Less than two years after joining the broadband niche, well-known Australian telco amaysim has decided to focus their efforts into their mobile and energy services. The new arrangement, however, won’t bring any major changes to amaysim’s existing customer base. The transition to Southern Phone’s network will be as smooth as possible without any changes to the service, performance, or the cost of their current plans.

Amaysim Discontinues Internet Services

It hasn’t been long since popular telco amaysim entered the internet market. During their stint as a broadband provider, they offered flexible and affordable NBN plans that gave Australians solid options to choose from. In an already crowded space of broadband, amaysim delivered competitive plans backed by fair pricing. However, their venture to home internet proved to be short lived. Amaysim CEO Peter O’Connell explained that their deal with Southern Phone will enable the company to “simplify its operating structure, defend and grow its core mobile and energy businesses, and invest in its technology platform”.

Southern Phone Takes Over

Southern Phone offers all things telco, including NBN, ADSL, SIM-only phone plans plus satellite and mobile broadband. Just like amaysim, they pride themselves on providing a wide range of reliable and low-cost products and services. Not to mention that Southern Phone is owned by the same communities it provides services to around Australia. As a result, the company’s financial growth serves a greater purpose as every cent of the revenue earned goes back to the communities that are also the shareholders in it. As of today, they have delivered more than $15.8 million in direct contributions to local communities.

What Happens to Existing Internet Customers?

Starting this month, amaysim’s broadband customers will begin to be informed of when their service will be transferred to Southern Phone. If you’re an existing home internet subscriber, you won’t be required to do anything on your end. All the heavy lifting that the transition to the new company entails will be handled by amaysim

Moreover, both amaysim and Southern Phone guarantee that the switch will be performed hassle-free with no downtime to the service. Southern Phone will send a confirmation after the transfer period is completed. As for changes to your service, there’ll be none. You’ll still get the same service you’ve originally subscribed to, receive the same speed tier, and pay the same monthly plan costs.

In the case that you decide that Southern Phone is not for you, you can cancel your service without any penalties and move to another provider. It is also important to note that this change entirely relates to amaysim home internet. If you’re an existing mobile or energy customer, your service remains as is.
