Best Movies on Disney Plus?
Disney Plus is one of the new major players in the ever growing global streaming market. It was first launched in Australia in November 2019, and possesses a massive catalogue of TV shows and films from Disney and its sister companies Marvel, Star Wars, 21st Century Fox and National Geographic.
The Disney Plus Australian platform provides a range of weekly and on demand content, largely focused around the family viewing market with shows they own, meaning that many new productions will air exclusively on the platform as opposed to being shared with competitors such as Netflix and Amazon, which had until the launch been the trend for new shows and films.

After the funeral of Darth Vader, large parts of the galaxy have become a free-for-all for bandits, criminals and other shady characters. An unnamed bounty hunter from Mandalore, far from the reaches of the New Republic, must fight to stay alive in a land where everyone’s head has a price. Although this particular TV series is not based on Boba Fett, the main character in The Mandalorian is from the same planet, and very similar in appearance to the fan favourite from the original Star Wars trilogy.
Runaways Seasons 1-3
If you’re a fan of Marvel then you’ll be glad to hear that all three seasons of Runaways are now available on Disney Plus. This superhero series follows six unlikely heroines as they try to escape the clutches of their criminal parents, also known as the Pride. The Runaways — Molly, Chase, Karolina, Nico, Gertrude and Alex come together to fight evil in this action packed series full of twists and turns, an ideal watch for fans of the Avengers and DC comic book universes.
This reality TV musical is an uplifting coming together story that will have you both laughing and crying. Old classmates are faced with the daunting task of performing their original high-school musical, many years after even attempting to sing a note. Good news is there is plenty of help at hand in the shape of Broadway veterans and music video choreographers. And the story is not just in the performance, many of the cast have difficult stories to tell, grudges to bare and lots and lots of self doubt, creating just the right amount of drama.
High School Musical – The Series
The idea behind the series is that East High School, where the original films were shot, is filled full of pupils who are major fans of Efron’s High School Musical movies. So much so that they want to create their own version, singing and dancing to all of their favourite songs. It seems that the cast may have changed, but the kids at East High School still love to hit the high notes and dazzle with their choreography.
One Strange Rock
This docuseries is all about the planet that we call home, Earth. It’s a story of how life develops and thrives on our planet and all the things that make it truly unique. This series is produced in conjunction with award winning film director Daren Aronofsky (Requiem For A Dream, Black Swan, The Wrestler) and hosted by Will Smith. The show also turns to some unlikely specialists for some truly enthralling contributions including several astronauts, that rare group of people that have seen the earth from a distant exterior perspective.
