Get the Best of Both Worlds with Foxtel's Movie + Drama Pack

Foxtel TV Movies and Drama

Foxtel’s Movie + Drama pack gives you more than enough quality TV and movie action to keep you entertained at all hours of the day. Also including the base Entertainment pack and available in HD, it’s one of the best value plans offered by Foxtel.

Why should I get Foxtel’s Movie + Drama Pack?

The focus of this pack is relatively clear in the title, but movies + drama isn’t all that it offers. Of course, drama is plentiful in the available channels, while the movies cover a range of genres including comedy, action, thriller, romance and more. What’s more, though, is that you get all the entertainment channels from the base pack to round it out, which includes more comedy, news, documentaries and more, giving you a comprehensive all-around haul of genres to feast on.

What Channels are Included with Foxtel Movie + Drama Pack?

The drama component of this pack isn’t the most comprehensive, but what it lacks in quantity it makes up for in quality. There are only five drama channels, but with FOX Showcase, Box Sets and BBC First among them, there is plenty of great drama available. For the movie buffs among you, ten movie channels, including Movie Greats, Premiere Movies and Masterpiece Movies, will keep you going.

What are the Top Movies and Shows on Foxtel

With classic and new blockbuster movies, some of the best drama TV shows in history, and a range of great entertainment channels, there’s plenty of great content in this pack. Take a look at the best of it below:

How much does the Foxtel Movie + Drama Pack cost?

With as much quality TV and movies as you could possibly need, the Drama + Movies pack offers great value for money. For just $59/month, you’ll get access to all the great shows and channels listed above in High Definition. And that’s all you pay, with Foxtel waiving setup and equipment fees for this package.

But wait before you buy – because there’s another option waiting in the wings, and it’s from a source you may not have expected. Foxtel from Telstra is exactly what it says on the tin – the real, full-featured Foxtel service including the latest iQ4 hardware – but billed through Telstra, which also makes it conveniently easy to put on your existing monthly Telstra bill if you like.

Foxtel from Telstra

But more importantly, Foxtel from Telstra has become known for its keen pricing on Foxtel bundles and plans, something that’s showing no signs of slowing down. So while you can get Drama+Movies direct from Foxtel for $59 a month, the same thing via Foxtel from Telstra will cost you only $50. There’s no charge for installation or the iQ4 box, and you can cancel any time if you’re not happy (though if you cancel in the first 12 months, you’ll have to pay a portion of the waived equipment fee).

If you’re thinking of getting Foxtel, then Foxtel from Telstra should be the first place you call. You’ll find them on 1800 007 769.

What are the Foxtel Streaming Alternatives

Of course, we’re very much in the midst of the streaming age now, with millions of Australians getting their entertainment through streaming instead of satellite. And when it comes to movies, drama and entertainment, there are plenty of choices that are worth thinking about as an alternative to Foxtel.

Netflix

For many, when movies and drama come up the first port of call is global giant Netflix. And that’s no surprise at all – the world’s biggest streaming service offers a huge, ever-changing catalogue of movies and drama, with many of both produced by their own studios and exclusive to Netflix. And these are big-budget, acclaimed shows, too – such as Stranger Things, or the award-winning Orange is the New Black and House of Cards. Netflix is contract-free so it’s easy to drop in and out of, and it works on almost every device that’s connected to a screen. Starting at $9.99/month, it’s a hell of a lot of entertainment for the price.

Amazon Prime Video

And arguably even better value is Amazon Prime Video, which also has a solid collection of movies alongside some terrific dramas, including their own award winners The Marvellous Mrs Maisel and The Man in the High Castle. Best of all with Prime Video is the price – only $6.99 per month or $59 a year, and the price includes a whole bunch of other Prime perks, from free Amazon delivery to free eBooks. You can stream in HD or even 4K, all on that base level plan. It’s a bargain.

Telstra TV

And if you need a device to get those streaming services onto your screen, the Telstra TV 3 is ideal. The latest version of Australia’s most popular streaming box, and designed by Roku in the US, the Telstra TV 3 covers the full range of streaming services and also integrates with live TV in its smart interactive interface that includes voice control. You can grab a free Telstra TV 3 with selected Telstra Broadband bundles, or buy it outright from Telstra stores.

Telstra Box Office

Movie fans will especially appreciate Telstra TV Box Office, a new movie streaming service designed with its namesake device in mind. You can rent the latest Hollywood blockbusters and stream them in the comfort of your home, just by picking up the remote and asking the Telstra TV to play it for you. To get you started, each Telstra TV comes with $120 of Telstra TV Box Office credit, which is enough for around 20 new-release movie rentals.

Foxtel Movie + Drama Devices

You don’t have to be in front of your big screen to tune into Foxtel – it’s also available to be streamed to a range of eligible devices through the Foxtel Now App, which can be downloaded for free. Check out the eligible devices below:

Watching Foxtel in 4K

The recent addition of a 4K channel made an already quality Foxtel viewing experience even better. 4K, also known as Ultra HD, uses four times as many pixels as High Definition and 20 times as many as Standard Definition to create a picture like you’ve never seen before. You’ll need an iQ4 box and a 4K compatible TV for it to work, but if that’s you then all you need to do is switch to Channel 444 to watch a range of great sports – including over 40 NRL and AFL games in 2019, the 2019 F1 season and more – as well as TV shows and movies in Ultra High Definition.

How to sign up

There are a couple of ways to sign up to the Foxtel Movies + Drama pack. You can call the Foxtel from Telstra team on 1800 007 769 to order the service on the spot, or you can head to the website and select the plan from their online shop. Once you’ve purchased the plan, Foxtel from Telstra will take charge of the installation and set up.

Foxtel review

Foxtel has been dominating the subscription TV industry in Australia for over 20 years, and today they beam into almost half of Australian homes. Offering a range of great television – much of which can be found in the Movies + Drama Pack – it’s little wonder so many Aussies rely on Foxtel to get their fix of TV.
